Privacy Policy for Wahran Transport

Wahran Transport is an independent transit guide for Oran, Algeria. It does not represent any government, public authority, transport authority or public transport operator.

1. Data stored on the device

The app may store locally:

This data remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.

2. Location data

Location is optional. The app may request approximate or precise location only when you activate a feature such as using your current location as a route origin or displaying your position on the map.

The app does not request background location and remains usable when location permission is refused.

When a location, address or map point is used for route planning, the coordinates required to calculate the route may be sent to the Wahran Transport backend. They are not used to create an advertising profile.

4. Address and place searches

Text entered into an address or place search field may be sent to the Wahran Transport backend. The backend searches its local Oran index first.

If the local index does not provide a sufficient result, Photon, a geocoding service based on OpenStreetMap data, may technically process the search query.

Searches are not linked to an account or persistent device identifier.

5. Optional analytics

If you accept analytics, the app may send anonymized usage events to improve its routes and transport information.

6. Technical service diagnostics

The backend records limited technical counters even when optional analytics are refused. These may contain the API endpoint, HTTP status, cache status, provider type, timestamp and sampling weight.

These counters are used to operate the service, monitor reliability, control costs and prevent abuse. They do not contain search text, route coordinates, account information or persistent device identifiers.

Local application logs, crash reports and ANR traces are not uploaded by the app.

7. Stop verification reports

You may voluntarily confirm an unverified stop or report a problem with a stop.

8. Third-party services

These providers may process technical information such as IP addresses according to their own privacy policies.

9. OpenStreetMap

Some map and search information is based on OpenStreetMap data, provided by OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License.

Wahran Transport's proprietary transit compilation is separate from OpenStreetMap data.

10. Data sharing

Wahran Transport does not sell personal data and does not share data for advertising.

Anonymous and aggregated transport insights may be used in reports about transport planning or service quality. Such reports must not identify individual users.

11. Retention and deletion

Local favorites, preferences and recent trips remain on your device until they are deleted, app storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled.

Anonymous analytics and technical diagnostics may be retained as needed to improve, operate and secure the service.

Stop reports may be retained for verification and auditing. You may request deletion of an identifiable report by providing enough information to locate it.

12. Security

Communications between the app and backend use HTTPS. The backend uses authentication, caching, rate limits and daily safety limits. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection.

The app does not require an account and does not knowingly request personal information from children.
